Use straps for heavy rows, deadlifts, shrugs, and pull variations. Use wraps for bench presses, overhead presses, front-rack work, and challenging push-ups. Some lifters own both because they solve separate training problems.
What Lifting Straps Actually Do
Lifting straps transfer part of the load from your fingers to your wrist and forearm. You loop the strap around the bar, then tighten it by rotating the bar or your hands. This creates a more secure connection with the weight.
